Although preparing a Will isn’t the most exciting activity, it’s really important to make sure you leave directions for how you want your stuff dealt with after you pass away. You’ve worked too hard to just give your things to the Public Trustee. Even if you don’t own much, you don’t want to cause your family stress and extra work when they’re busy grieving the loss of you! We’ll make it easy for you.
What can I get for FREE?
Reading the content in the Learning Centre is a great way to learn about estate planning, what you need in your Will, how a power of attorney works and how to appoint guardians, plus much more. Best of all, this information is all completely FREE!
Can I speak to a Lawyer?
Once you’ve looked at the Learning Centre, or if you prefer to just get advice and not doing any research yourself, you can speak directly to a lawyer who specialises in Estate Planning, Wills, Powers of Attorney and Administering Estates after someone has passed away. To speak with a lawyer, there are a few steps to take to set up your credit card details and have your drivers license or passport verified by the Law On Earth team. Then you can book directly into the lawyer’s calendar at a time that suits you.
How do I prepare my Will and estate planning documents?
If you want to have a go at preparing your own Will and other documents like the Power of Attorney before you speak to the lawyer, you would do this using the Document Wizard.
How much are Legal Advice Sessions?
To book a 20 minute session with a lawyer, it will cost you $147 total (GST is included). If you need to extend that session by 10 minutes or more, each extension of 10 minutes will cost $48.50.
You can cancel the booking any time. If you cancel within 24 hours of the booked session, then the only cost to you will be $15 cancellation fee. $10 of that fee goes to the Advisor to cover some of their cost in spending time accepting the booking and reviewing your situation, and $5 covers the system costs we incur.
If an Advisor cancels on you less than 24 hours before your booked session, we will give you a $10 credit towards booking a new session as a way of compensating you for your time too. You have to re-book the session within a certain time frame to take advantage of the offer.
How much are the Documents?
The documents cost between $7 to $97 depending on the type of document and how complicated that particular document is. For example, the Letter of Wishes may be $27 as it is relatively simple, while the Will including a Testamentary Trust is much more complex and is $77.
There are documents in the platform for most common day-to-day legal situations so you should have no trouble finding what you need. But of course, if you can’t find it, let us know. If what you’re looking for is not there, we may be able to create that document and upload it to the Document Wizard within a few days.
